Day
01 : Cusco - Cachora - Chiquiska
Early
in the morning pick-up from your hotel on a private bus to Cachora.
Traveling for about 2 ½ hours, we stop in Tarawasi to visit the
remnants of an Inca Usno, a place where ceremonies and payments to
the Mother Earth were made. We continue our trek along the trail and
across the Apurimac River, then up to Curahuasi and Saywite, where
we visit the huge Inca stone, considered to be the Tahuantinsuyo
scale-model, with carvings of animals symbolizing their main deities
(Saywite comprises the so-called Wiracocha’s route). Then we
continue our trek to Cachora (2800m) and have lunch. In the
afternoon, we start our climbing up to the Capuliyoc Pass (2750m),
from where we enjoy impressive landscapes and mountains along with
the Apurimac Canyon. Next we start descending the final trail to
Chiquiska, our first campsite.
Day
02 : Chiquiska -
Marampata - Choquequirao
We
leave Chiquiska early in the morning (this being the toughest part
of the trail, it is important to leave early). We descend until
reaching Rosalina Beach across the Apurímac River, then a steep
zigzagging ascent to Santa Rosa and continuing up to Marampata where,
2 ½ hours later, we
have lunch. Soon after leaving Marampata, we see the Choquequirao
complex right on the next ridge. The climb across the mountains
continues for two more hours, until we finally reach the amazing
fortress. Free time to explore the ruins. Campsite.
Day
03 : Marampata - Choquequirao
After 2 hours from long walk we’ll arrive to our
first great destiny, the Last City of Choquequirao, an imposing
citadel on the top of the mountains and that arrives until the
borders of the Apurimac River. We will have the rest of the day to
visit Choquequirao and more important enclosures. The camping will
be located to a hundred of meters of park.
Day
04 : Choquequirao - Colcapampa
Very early we initiated the long walk to our
following destiny Machupicchu citadel, whose long walk had been two
days in which we will know archaeological places, farmers
communities, with exotic flora and fauna. This day we will have our
fourth camping in Colcapampa.
Day
05 : Colcapampa - Santa teresa - Aguas Calientes
This
day we will walk in the middle of beautiful places between the high
forest, the cloud forest and the eyebrow forest, until arriving at
Santa Teresa small town, next by bus we’ll go towards the
hydroelectric where we will be boarding the train until Aguas
Calientes Town, arrival to the hotel and accommodation.
Day
06 : Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu - Cusco
Very early we will go up by bus towards Machupicchu
citadel and next in long walk of 45 minutes to ascend until
Intipunko or Sun Door where we will appreciate the amazing and
magical Machupicchu city in the middle of the andes and his
beautiful sunrise, next we will visit the more important enclosures
like the Viewpoint, the agricultural sector, the great Cover, the
Intihuatana or Solar clock, among others. To scheduled time return
to Aguas Calientes town and lunch. To 3:30 return to Cusco by train
and transfer to your hotel.
