Day
01 : Cusco -
Quishuarani - Cuncani
At
7:10 a.m., we’ll pick you up at your hotel, to leave Cusco, (3,360
m. of altitude) by bus, to get to the Community of Quishuarani. Then,
we’ll start walking at 3,700 m. above sea level, going up to the
pass Huillquikasa (mountain pass), at an altitude of 4,200 m.,
wherefrom we’ll contemplate the beautiful Andean landscape, to
then go on to the Community of Cuncani, at 3,750 m. There, we’ll
dine and spend the night.
Day
02 : Cuncani - Ipsaycocha
At
the indicated time, we’ll leave Cuncani to go to the Community of
Huacawasi. There, the locals produce beautiful handmade textiles
which are very much used in their daily work. We’ll be able to
observe the women’s great dexterity in the making of the famous
ponchos and “chullos” (Andean wool bonnets). As we’ll go on
our way, we’ll ascend to the last mountain pass called Cóndor, at
4,100 m. above sea level, from which we’ll contemplate the snow-capped
La Verónica, with its 5,750 m. of altitude. Afterwards, we’ll
move on to get to Lake Ipsaycocha, at 3,800 m. There, we’ll have
dinner and will rest.
Day
03 : Ipsaycocha - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes
At
the indicated time, we’ll move on to the localities of Patakancha
and Willoc; high Andean communities which keep their ancestral
customs and typical clothes. Afterwards, we’ll go on by bus. En
route, we’ll stop to visit the Archaeological Complex of Pumamarka.
There, we’ll see the famous Incan benched terraces, which are
still used today by the local inhabitants. Finally, we’ll go to
Ollantaytambo. In the Incas’ time, Ollantaytambo was a very
important fortified citadel, built as a “Tampu” (resting place)
and which also served to facilitate the control of the access to the
“Antisuyo” (one of the 4 main directions of the Tahuantinsuyo or
Incan State). At the indicated time, we´ll take the train to go to
Aguas Calientes (2,040 m. above sea level.
